SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for providing a variety of payments, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashier checks, money orders and cash advances.
  • Balances each day’s transactions and verifies cash totals.
  • Performs specific assigned side-jobs and assists other tellers and co-workers with a variety of duties as required.
  • Ensures members are promptly and professionally served.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of teller policies and procedures and related compliance. Basic understanding of credit union operations.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Abilities generally acquired on the job. Cash handling and customer service experience is strongly preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must have demonstrated ability to keep finances in order.  Solid organizational skills and ability to keep files in order and maintain detailed records.  Ability to work multiple files at once and recall pervious conversations and details of transactions.
  • You have three to five years of similar or related experience.
  • You are a helpful and contributing individual who enjoys working with others.
  • You build and maintain a positive rapport with members.
  • You are self-driven and motivated to meet your goals.
  • You are practical and a direct and accurate communicator.
  • Ability to operate related computer applications.
  • Ability to order Fed cash a plus and accurately sell cash from vault to tellers.
  • Ability to operate Microsoft applications, use business equipment including adding machine, copy machine, coin, and money counting machines and telephone systems.
  • CBX Software Systems knowledge is a plus.

Come join Grand Trunk (BC) Employees Federal Credit Union’s Lending Team!

As a Lending Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting members seeking multiple consumer loan types through multiple channels, including in person and online. In this role you will be responsible for consulting with members, taking loan applications, and guiding members through the loan process with accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service. This position plays a key role in driving loan growth while strengthening the credit union’s service values and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Review consumer loan inquiries and communicate with members to determine appropriate loan solutions, and provide recommendations.
  • Take complete and accurate loan applications via phone and online applications.
  • Inform members on loan terms, rates, payment options, and required documentation. 
  • Ensure timely and clear communication with members throughout the process. Including scheduling and facilitating loan closings with the member.
  • Review credit reports, income documentation, terms, and debt-to-income ratios to ensure they fall within our established guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Department of State online e-titling system and how to complete title work. 
  • Identify opportunities to maximize member relationships through additional products and services with the goal of building a full relationship
  • Ensure that all credit union policies and procedures are in place and followed.

Qualifications:

  • One to three years similar or related experience in a similar capacity in the financial industry environment
  • Knowledge of consumer lending regulations, terms and practices preferred
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite
  • Strong attention to detail, and excellent time management skills
  • Effective communication skills, written and oral
  • CBX Software Systems knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to interact with others on a regular basis and build relationships

Candidates must be available Monday – Friday 8am until 5pm and some Saturdays 9am -12pm. The opening is in Battle Creek, Michigan.
